Attend the Summer's Best Party and Support the Bowl

In the great spirit of The Associates of the Redlands Bowl, this summer’s annual benefit will be a spectacular night out. Committee chairs Cheryl Youngwerth and Susan Sequeira have already begun working their “Disco Fever” on the associates. Everything including food, music, decorations, live and silent auction items are being infused with the Studio 54 disco wonderland aura. On July 9, 2005, the Redlands Antique Auction House at 1547 Park Avenue, Redlands, CA 92373, will be transformed into our very own Studio 54!

This annual event, which helps raise thousands of dollars in support of the Redlands Community Music Association’s Summer Music Festival, is the premier party for supporters of the Redlands Summer Music Festival. The Associate’s first fund raising benefit dates back to 1957, and was held at the beautiful Arrowhead Springs Hotel. Starting in 1965, the fundraising benefits have been held annually. A variety of themes and locations have been used over the past few decades, and the associates work intently every year to come up with new and exciting themes. Some of our past themes have included the “Festival of Gypsies (1971)”, to the “Country Hoedown (1974)”.

The Redlands Community Music Association was founded by Grace Stewart Mullen, whose vision was that “music is for everyone,” and should be accessible to all, regardless of their ability to pay admission. A brief encounter at a local grocery store brought together the support of Carolyn S. Pike, a newcomer to the Redlands community. Impressed by Grace’s zeal to expand and improve the Summer Music Festival, Carolyn S. Pike founded the “Associates of the Redlands Bowl”, in 1950. The purpose of this energetic group of women was, and still is, to assist the Redlands Community Music Association in fundraising, and to be the official hostesses throughout the Music Festival.
