Redlands Bowl Presents the All-American Boys Chorus in a Salute to America

The internationally acclaimed All-American Boys Chorus comes to the Redlands Bowl for a concert saluting America and her music on Tuesday, July 2, at 8:15 p.m.. Just in time to begin celebrations for the Fourth of July, the chorus will present audience favorites from America's musical history.
The thirty-six voice ensemble, headquartered in Costa Mesa,
California, will sing Broadway selections such as "Tonight" from "West Side Story", "Ol' Man River" from "Showboat", and "Lida Rose" from "The Music Man". This talented and versatile group will also sing medleys featuring the California sounds of The Beach Boys, tunes from the Roaring Twenties, swinging pieces from the Big Band era, and bouncing Dixieland songs. In their patriotic tribute, they will highlight the music of George M. Cohan and John Philip Sousa. They will sing an important and stirring presentation to honor the past and present members of the United States Armed Forces, a presentation which will include a rendition of Lee
Greenwood's "God Bless the USA".
"The Chorus is outstanding, pure energy and simply wonderful,"
exclaims Music Director David Albulario about the ensemble whose singers range form 9 to 14 years old.
Founded in 1970, the Chorus demands rigor and discipline from its talented and gifted singers. After passing an eight-week audition
process, singers train for up to 12 months to learn a repertoire of 40 songs before they are accepted into the Concert Chorus. Open to boys of all races, faiths, creeds, nationalities, and ethnic origins, the Chorus presents private and public concerts, takes national and international tours, and records. They have taped television commercials for Mazda, TWA, and Kentucky Fried Chicken, and have appeared with entertainers such as Bob Hope, Victor Borge, and Della Reese.
The Chorus has performed to standing ovations all over the world,
from Moscow to Bucharest to Vienna to Rome and Venice. This summer's tour, beginning on July 27 for 31 days, will include seven countries in Asia. The concert, co-sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Redlands, will be preceded at 7:20 by the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival's renowned Community Sing. The Sing will be accompanied by Harriet Talbert and led by Curtiss Allen, Sr., who traditionally sports his Fourth of July uniform for the first event of the season.
The intermission speaker for this concert will be Bryan Hartnell of
Hartnell, Horspool and Fox, a professional law corporation, and the ushers will be representatives of the Arrowhead Christian Academy and of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Redlands. At 3:00 p.m., the All-American Boys Chorus will conduct "Do, Re, Mi
- Boy, Oh Boy!", a free Children's Summer Festival Workshop for children ages 5 to 12. This workshop will be held at the First congregational Church at 2 W. Olive Avenue in Redlands.
Continuing the tradition begun in 1924, this and all concerts are
open to the public at no charge, and a free-will offering will be
collected at intermission. For more information about this concert, call the Redlands Bowl office at 909/793-7316 or visit the web site at www.redlandsbowl.com. The Redlands Bowl is located between Grant and Eureka Streets in Redlands, off of Brookside Avenue.
