Las Brasas

Redlands has several Mexican restaurants, but Las Brasas stands out as being accessible, strives to keep lunchtime diners on schedule and offers traditional faire. Since they are located on State Street, near Orange Street, it is a great place to dine when shopping or working downtown. It has become a favorite on Thursday's Market Night. If you are planning to have dinner there, allow time to wait for a table - don't be discouraged, it is worth the short wait. While they are a smaller restaurant, they do offer intimacy and an environment great for talking.

For those interested in a late breakfast they have a limited selection of traditional Mexican breakfasts: Huevos Rancheros, Machaca con Huevo and Chorizo con Huevo. However, starting with lunch they offer the standard various combinations that includes: tacos, enchiladas, chile rellenos, tamales, taquitos, chimichangas, burritos and tostadas. They have daily lunch specials, but every day they offer the Las Brasas Enchilada for $5.50. This comprises of: layers of chicken, melted cheese and refried beans, all separated by soft corn tortillas, topped with enchilada sauce and includes rice. Also there are 6 "Veggy Plates". These dishes have the following vegetables substituted for the customary meats depending upon the dish: potatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, corm, onion, tomatoes and bell peppers. It should be noted that Las Brasas uses 100% pure vegetable oil in all their cooking and fat free cheese can be substituted for regular cheese for a $.75 surcharge.

Las Brasas serves 8 dinner specialties, which includes rice, beans and tortillas. Some of these specialties are the traditional Carne Asada, Fajitas, Chile Verde and Colorado, Carnitas, Steak Picado, and Flautas. There is also the Pollo Las Brasas for $5.95, which is sliced chicken breast cooked in a tomato sauce with olives, carrots, potatoes and topped with sour cream. Their dinner menu also includes the full compliment of burritos, seafood prepared Mexican style and Mexican style salads.

For downtown dining where you can have traditional Mexican faire, accessibility while shopping or on a lunch timetable, then Las Brasas is the place for you.
