Hearty and Heartier
Redlands Family Restaurant is certainly
a place where if you leave hungry you just didn’t
finish what was brought to you. They are serving straightforward
hearty food at a very reasonable price. Redlands Family
Restaurant had been operating for about 16 years when a
fire erupted causing this restaurant to close for almost
2 years. It re-opened in April 1999. The atmosphere is friendly
and unpretentious. The seating is open, well lit and very
accessible.
This is a restaurant of Specials. The Breakfast
Special is $2.99 and is available Monday through Friday
from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., which is either build, your own
omelet or 2 pancakes, 1 egg, 2 sausages or 2 bacon strips.
While they don’t have a lunch special, they do have
a Dinner Special that starts early at 2 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
7 days a week for $3.99. This includes 8 different entries,
some are: Chicken Fried Steak, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce,
Quarter Roast Chicken and Roast Turkey Sandwich. Along with
entries comes: choice of potatoes, vegetable soup or salad,
roll and desert. There is also Children’s Specials
for $2.75 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also
a Senior’s Special breakfast for either $2.85 or $3.25,
and lunch and dinner are $4.25.
Redlands Family Restaurant prides themselves
with their freshly roasted turkey, which is prepared on
site. This provides all the turkey meat in their turkey
dinners, sandwiches and salads. In addition to this on site
specialty, they also make all their soups on site. Their
menu is fairly extensive including American fare: represented
by Homemade Meat Loaf $4.95, Beef Liver $5.25, Chicken Fried
Steak $4.95, Seafood such as: 5 Jumbo Shrimp $6.25 and Halibut
Steak $7.95 and Italian selections. The dinners come with
a roll, soup or salad, potatoes, vegetables and desert of
the day. Lunch is varied: club sandwiches are $4.95 to $5.55,
burgers $3.55 to $3.95 and melts $2.95 to $4.25.
This is a restaurant where the food is wholesome
and amply portioned. Redlands Family Restaurant fills a
void, particularly an empty stomach.
