Notable Redlands Residents
Harold Bell Wright
Noted author Harold Bell Wright was the best selling author of the early twentieth century. He moved to Redlands to preach at the Christian Church on Olive Ave and Nordena Street, having been recruted by friend Mr. William F. Holt developer of Imperial Valley. Several of his books were later made into movies. The Movie The Eyes of the World premiered in Redlands in 1916.
Ronald Regan said of Harold Bell Wright's influence on him:
"The term, "role model," was not a familiar term in that time and place. But I realize I found a role model in that traveling printer whom Harold Bell Wright had brought to life. He set me on a course I've tried to follow even unto this day. I shall always be grateful."
