5/23/2008 - Redlands SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Selecting a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) company is one of the easiest tasks in the Internet world. Simply download the Google Toolbar and enable the PageRank and Page Info button to have the Google PageRank right in front of you. Next open up the SEO company website and mouse over the PageRank tool to see the ranking of every page you view. Any company worth its salt will have a strong ranking and lots of backlinks (Google’s term for links to that page from other Websites). So what is acceptable? The scale is 1 to 10 on a logarithmic scale. So a 4 is much harder to get than a 3. For a SEO company nothing less than a 5 should be acceptable. . they simply do not know their own business. A 6 or above is excellent! In a recent poll, among the companies selling SEO in Redlands and the Inland Empire, only one has above a 3, RedFusion Media.com with a 6. The other measure is how many backlinks a website has. To check backlins using a Google Toolbar (http://www.redfusionmedia.com/google_toolbar.htm), click on the small down triangle on the PageRank button. Strong SEO sites need over 100 backlinks, but much more is even better. At an average price of $100/page for SEO work, be sure you only hire those who have already proven themselves.
