7/3/2008 - Restaurant Review - Time in a Bottle By Greg & Julie Fields Nestled amidst the stretch of historic buildings along Orange Street (across the way from the Santa Fe depot) sits Time in a Bottle, Redlands’ new gathering place. Patrons searching for a venue to relax from the stresses of life and connect with friends new and old will be delighted to discover an atmosphere crafted for the purpose of social connections. Decorated with simplicity, Time in a Bottle boasts high ceilings, rich dark wood floors, gorgeous furniture hand-crafted by the owner himself, and more than a dozen leather couches inviting guests to relax and enjoy satisfying conversation. Primarily a wine merchant, Time in a Bottle’s menu simply complements this lounge’s expansive wine selection. Appetizers include Crispy Polenta with Marinara Sauce, Prosciutto and Melon Skewers, Cheese Fondue, Mushroom Tarts, Prosciutto-wrapped Asparagus, an Antipasti platter, and a varied cheese selection. Diners with a light appetite might enjoy the marinated olives, fresh fruit plate, basket of fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, or even a bowl of popcorn or pita chips. Savory and tasty, Paninis stuffed with unique ingredients satisfy the heartier appetite: Prosciutto and Provolone, Apple and Bree, Margarita with Artichoke Hearts, and Sautéed Vegetables with Edom. We savored the flavorful Exotic Mushrooms and Goat Cheese Panini (with arugula and truffle oil) as well as the Salmon and Capers Panini, paired with a glass of the smooth and fruity Cycles Gladiator Merlot. Time in a Bottle is open for lunch and dinner, Tuesday through Sunday, with hours extending until 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings.
