2/13/2009 - Redlands Community Music Association Cooking Class Entertaining on a shoestring, stretching a dollar, penny pinching all are things we are doing during these hard economic times. The Associates of the Redlands Bowl and Cooking Class Chairs, Heather Powell and Tracy Hanson, are preparing for their annual cooking class with Martha Green, "Entertaining on a Shoestring” to be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Redlands, 1551 Reservoir Road, Redlands, California. Martha Green brought her southern charm and ingenuity into the Inland Empire over 30 years ago and now owns Dough'Lectibles and The Eating Room, a bakery and adjacent restaurant in downtown Redlands. She is also the author of Martha Green's Cooking Things. Martha hosts approximately 30 fund raising cooking classes annually. The cooking class is an all year affair for The Associates. Months before the event, the Associates spend evenings and afternoons tasting submitted recipes and determining the menu. The Associates spend days prior to the event preparing for the school and readying the featured items. At 6:00 p.m. the doors open to the guests and the program begins. Martha demonstrates the food preparation and the guests sample the finished products. Recipes are provided at the end of the class so the newly learned skills can be practiced at home. This year there are some really fun items, all tasty and inexpensive to make. Some exciting opportunity drawings are offered this year: two tea tables including designer table settings, Nordstrom gift cards and Williams-Sonoma gift cards. See our attached Cooking Class flyer for details and information. Print the flyer and detach the order form.
