4/9/2010 - Dick Mountjoy Announces Support for Mike Morrell
Redlands, California - Conservative icon Dick Mountjoy has declared his support for Mike Morrell in the race for the 63rd Assembly District, currently held by Bill Emmerson, who is term-limited.
"More than ever, we need conservative leadership in Sacramento and I believe that Mike Morrell is the kind of leader that we can count on to make tough decisions and fight for our conservative principles," said Mountjoy. "Mike cares deeply about traditional values and the sanctity of life, he also cares about the direction our state is headed and that is why I am supporting him. I urge all conservatives to join me."
"Senator Mountjoy has been one of the most principled public servants to serve in the legislature and Sacramento could use his voice in dealing with the tough decisions that need to be made to turn our state around," said Morrell. "Likewise, I will push conservative solutions to problems created by liberal policy-makers, you can count on that."
Mountjoy served as the mayor of Monrovia from 1968 to 1976. He served in the California State Assembly from 1978-1995 and the California State Senate from 1995-2000. In 2006, he was the Republican nominee against Diane Feinstein for U.S. Senate.
Mike and his wife Joanie live in Rancho Cucamonga. They have been married for 32 years, and together they have three children, Kristen, David and Matt. Mike is president of Provident Realty and has been involved in numerous community organizations including the YMCA, Inland Empire Prayer Breakfast, City of Hope, Pacific Justice Institute, and California Republican Assembly.
